At Mingler, our default position is yes.
Most people—even those we don’t yet know—**are eligible and welcome** to attend Mingler events until they show us otherwise. We actively aim to include a healthy number of new faces at every event, because we believe both in access and in the energy that comes from blending experience with genuine newbie enthusiasm.
These events are not closed clubs. They are curated spaces.
And curation means eligibility is based on behavior, alignment, and impact—not status, popularity, or proximity to power.
You are not eligible to attend Mingler events if any of the following are true:
You are timed out or banned from the Mingler Discord server.
You are unable or unwilling to complete the required orientation process.
You are entitled, difficult, or demanding with our volunteer event team.
We determine that you are not a good fit for our culture of acceptance, consent, and accountability.
The following do not automatically qualify someone to attend events:
- Being a member of Mingler
Knowing someone on the event team
Knowing a venue owner
Being generally liked by some—or even most—of the team
Likewise, being disliked by one person, part of the team, or even the entire team does not automatically disqualify someone.
However—and this matters—if a person’s behavior causes one or more of our team members to feel deeply uncomfortable, we will trust that instinct, protect our team member(s), and that person will not be eligible to attend Mingler events.
Our volunteer team puts real care, time, and emotional labor into creating these spaces. They matter to us. They matter to the people who attend.
We want attendees—whether they’re coming to a mixer, a dance, or a more intimate event—to feel confident that if something feels off, or if we know through direct experience or shared community reports that someone is not safe or aligned, we will not allow that person to attend and meet others on our watch.
We do not publish incident details, name names, or debate internal decisions. We assess patterns, behavior, impact, and fit—and we act accordingly.
Our priority is not being fair to everyone individually.
Our priority is being responsible to OUR community as a whole.
